Celebrating Dr. Suess' Birthday with Clausell Elementary

On the morning of Friday, March 4, several Fondren volunteers read aloud at Clausell Elementary to help the students celebrate Dr. Suess' birthday as part of a Read Across America event. We joined volunteers from some of Clausell's other school adopters and jubilantly agreed that it was nice to be back in the school and to see the students in person! We were told we should tell the students of other ways we have been supporting the school during the Covid shutdown (since items have just been "mysteriously" arriving at the school from all of us) and to remind them of how important reading, studying, and regular attendance, etc. are in achieving their goals. They were very cute and VERY enthusiastic about telling us about themselves, and we all had a great time.

When we told them that we hope to provide some field trips to the Mississippi Natural Science Museum this spring, their faces really lit up. A number of you will get the opportunity to be part of that upcoming adventure when we get some plans made with the school!
