2022 Holy Week Schedule

Holy Week begins this Sunday, April 10

Palm Sunday

April 10
11:00 a.m.
Worship and Communion

Palm Sunday (also Passion/Palm Sunday) begins Holy Week, a time in the church year when we remember how Christ gave his life in love for the world. As this service opens, the crowd waves palm branches, wanting to crown Jesus as king. But as the story of the passion unfolds, their shouts of praise turn to demands for his crucifixion; he receives a crown of thorns as he is handed over to be mocked and killed.

Good Friday

April 15
7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Tenebrae Service

A solemn and candlelit reading of the last words of Christ with a tolling of the bell to mark the beginning of the wait for Easter morning. The Service for Good Friday draws people into the story of the passion of Christ. It is composed of contrasting actions and moods of the solemn reading of the passion of Christ and, yet, a hopeful look toward the resurrection. It is most dramatic and meaningful when all depart in silence.

Easter Sunday

April 17

The festival of the Resurrection of the Lord (or Easter Sunday) is the center of the Christian year. On this occasion the church joyfully proclaims the good news that is at the very heart of the gospel: that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead.

10:00 to 10:50 a.m.
Pick-up Brunch and Flowering of the Cross

Start your Easter morning at Fondren with a light breakfast—your favorite Fondren pickup breakfast food, juice, and coffee—and lots of Easter joy and fellowship. Participate in the tradition of flowering the cross on the front lawn of the church as part of our Easter celebration. You are invited to bring flowers from home to adorn the cross.

11:00 a.m. to noon
Worship and Communion

Join in our Easter celebration with special music, the Lord’s Supper, and the celebration of resurrection of our savior Jesus Christ with the church universal!
