Leslie Pitts Johnson: Where We Are Today

Being Together While We’re Apart

Because we all miss our Fondren family, here are our Sequester Stories—a series of stories and photos by Fondren folks sharing what our “pandemic lives” are about.

Back in May, we began the process of looking at houses in the hopes we would find one to buy. We were tired of living in an apartment where the owner was absent, and the manager couldn’t care less. Within a week, we had found a house, we had gone and looked at it, and we were smitten by this house. We put in an offer. A few days later, we received a counter offer, which we accepted as it was a reasonable counter offer. We began the process of scheduling the home inspection; everything was moving forward.

Then, Robin began to not feel well. He went to the doctor, and when the test results came back, he was positive for COVID-19. We had to be quarantined for 14 days! Luckily there was a COVID-19 addendum in our contract. Thank you, Lord, for our amazing realtor! We were able to reschedule the inspection for after the quarantine period. Whew! What a relief! I was worried we would lose the house.

Needless to say, the inspection went well. Repairs were made. Contracts were signed. And the house became ours!

We moved in, got settled a bit, and then began working on our garden!

More space = more plants! We are so excited to see where our adventure into gardening/urban farming takes us!

And here’s where we are today!

Lots of promise from the good Lord’s earth.
