2023 Stewardship Campaign

“What does the Lord require of you, but to Do Justice, Love Kindness, and Walk Humbly with your God.” — Micah 6:8

We have examined our church budget as an expression of the mission and ministry of Fondren Presbyterian Church. Our guiding principles, as expressed in Micah 6:8, help us to look at our budget in a new, more meaningful way.

Do Justice

20% of Budget — $76,000

As a Matthew 25 congregation, we are committed to the ideal of eradicating systemic poverty. We address local issues of hunger and need through Stewpot Services and The Good Samaritan Center. We support Living Waters for the World and Solar Under the Sun to provide clean, safe water. We work with Habitat for Humanity and Working Together Jackson to help change systemic poverty. We are:

  • Taking training to better understand structural racism

  • Welcoming the LGBTQ+ community

  • Providing girls with role models of women in leadership

  • Caring for the environment by recycling and implementing sustainable practices

  • Maintaining relationships with congregations of differing faiths

Love Kindness

35% of Budget — $133,000 in 2022

When we prepare and deliver Meals on Wheels and take public school children on field trips, we experience the joy of sharing God’s love with others. We give to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and PCUSA World Missions to help those in need. Within our congregation, we support one another as family. We enjoy meals, movies, landscaping, study groups, Wednesday nights, Fondren Feasts, Vacation Bible School, Trunk or Treat, and so much more. We show up for one another, in grief and sadness, and in joy and celebration.

Walk Humbly

45% of Budget — $171,000 in 2022

“The church reformed, always reforming.” We know we don’t always get it right, but we keep trying to follow in Christ’s path. We study the Bible, and gather for seminars, Wednesday night programs, Circle groups, Sunday school, and Presbyterian Women. We seek personal spiritual growth and spiritual formation in our children. In Worship, we praise the triune God as Creator, Spirit and Savior. Our worship includes music, prayer, scripture, confession, communion and intelligent sermons. We worship in community, to share with each other, our gratitude for God’s grace. Our doors are open wide to welcome all into our church home.
